Shortcuts to Superhero Costumes

Just rehashing this from by Deviantart blog. I once pondered on why superheroes are usually wearing spandex, that if you remove the lines, they’ll appear naked. Then I realized, something I should have realized long ago: it’s how the artists are trained to draw it anyway.

I seem to like the art of David Finch, especially when he draws women. I got this combined issue of the Dark Knight 6 and 7 (after the DC reboot) in a used bookshop. The artwork is quite appealing.

Wonder Woman back in the day

I'm back after a long time of non-posts.

Now for a visual commentary on comics. After setting up my account on Comixology and discovering some free comics, I was able to find a classic issue of the aptly named Sensation Comics number 1, featuring the second story of Wonder Woman by William Moulton Marston. In this story, Wonder Woman makes her first visit to a big city.

We're so used to Wonder Woman going around dressed in little more than a swimsuit. But not when she first stepped foot in the U.S. of A:

Femforce

Another one of my interests is comics, which of course involves superheroes. And along with the superheroes, are the eye candy for men... superheroines.

Femforce is perhaps the first all-female superhero group in comics that just doesn't rehash already existing heroines and repacks them into a team. It was an all-female team from the start.

I mail-ordered the Origins trade paperback more than a decade ago (only to find it a free web comic later on, oh well), as wellas a couple of issues. Copies of this title barely reach the Philippines, they still have to be mail-ordered. Still, it's something worth reading in print, especially when the computer is off.

And they are still eye candy, some good references for making one's own superheroines.
